Pineapples

Every grow one?  You should try!

Every grow a pineapple??  It is actually not that hard.  Above is one that I grew.

You take the top from a pineapple that you buy in the store.  When you cut it off the fruit, clean off the pineapple meat that is left.  Stick the cleaned top in a pot of soil.  Keep the pot watered and moist.  After a bit, new growth will start on the plant.  Mine looked very dead after awhile.  Be patient, it will come back.  About 12 months after I started growing the pineapple, the plant formed a flower stalk.  The bud of the flower looked just like a small pineapple.  Little purple flowers formed from the top of the bud going down.  After it was done blooming, the pineapple started growning.  It took about 6 months for it to mature, but it was well worth the wait. The above was about 18 months old when it produced a very sweet (but small) pineapple.  There is nothing like real fresh pineapple!

Below is a link that I have found concerning the growing of pineapples. You might find it interesting too.
